ABOUT JOCELYN
A former biotech director, Jocelyn spent decades immersed in a world of research and methodology. But when she retired, she sought something radically different: innovation, adventure, and a deeper connection to herself and the world. She took to the waves, traveling the far-flung spots as a surfer and experiencing cultures that would shape her next chapter.
During her travels in Mexico, she discovered fiber art, captivated by the vibrant weaving traditions. What began as a hobby quickly became a creative outlet, allowing her to channel her experiences into intricate, meaningful pieces. Eager to deepen her craft, she traveled the world, learning traditional techniques from master artisans, enriching her art with global influences.
But her story doesn’t end with personal growth. Returning to the town in Mexico where her journey began, Jocelyn felt a calling to give back. She started teaching local women how to weave, sharing not only her skills but also her belief in art as a means of empowerment. For these women, weaving became more than a craft—it became a livelihood. Through their art, they are now able to supplement their family income, creating ripples of change in their community.
Today, Jocelyn continues to weave stories through her art. Each piece is a celebration of her journey: the science that shaped her early career, the waves that carried her to distant shores, and the threads that connect her to the artisans and communities she has met along the way. Her work reminds us that it’s never too late to reinvent ourselves and that creativity can bridge worlds, transform lives, and create lasting impact.
